Portland doom gods (and Goddess) Witch Mountain has released a FREE two song EP via the Scion AV Metal website. Just head over to http://www.scionav.com/collection/1146/Witch-Mountain-EP. Unfortunately you have to put in an email address. I really hate that shit and I wish sites wouldn’t do that so I just created a dummy gmail account for times like this. I hope you’ll do the same. Anyways, it’s totally worth the time to do so because these two songs are fucking amazing. The only thing I hate is the cover art. I really wish these bands would stop the whole “hot chick in front, ugly band guys way in the back” thing. In my opinion, it makes it hard to make it more about the music and less about the image. Luckily, Witch Mountain is a fucking kick ass band so they can at least walk the walk. But still, c’mon y’all. Don’t pull this crap. This only needs to be done by bands who aren’t good like In This Moment.
Witch Mountain has been doing their doom thing for 15 years but just since the addition of vocalist Uta Plotkin in 1999 have they begun to make some serious waves in the metal community. This year Witch Mountain released Cauldron of the Wild, the follow up to their 2011 masterpiece South of Salem, and have since taken to the road bringing the doom to wherever and whoever they can. Witch Mountain is currently out on the Scion AV Tour with special guests Castle so be sure to check ’em out when they hit your town.
