One Hour of Metal is where I either put my iTunes on shuffle or tune into a metal internet radio station and for one hour I document what I hear. The good, the bad and the downright awful are always represented with honesty in this segment. Some hours are better than others as you will see in this series. So letâs get started shall we?
This time around I went to www.tunein.com and tuned in to Classic Metal Radio. I listen to this station a lot and I’m always impressed with the variety of hard rock/metal that they play. I mean, where else can you go from Bon Jovi to Lizzy Borden to Slayer to Y&T? This is a great station to check out and i’ll probably do the next few OHOM posts from this channel. Enjoy this one!
White Lion â Radar Love
I think itâs funny that the combination of one of my least favorite hard rock bands doing one of my least favorite songs can kick ass. This is the ONLY thing White Lion ever did that I liked and this was the only time that I ever liked the song âRadar Love.â Kinda weird how shit like that works out.
Ozzy Osbourne â Demon Alcohol
Itâs hilarious hearing a guy drunk off his fucking ass singing a song about the âdemons of alcohol.â This has to be one of the fucking worst Ozzy songs ever. The chorus alone is so fucking annoying and whenever Ozzy says, âLetâs partyâ I want to punch him in his fat, drunken, bloated face. This song is lametastic to say the least.
Alice Cooper â Hello Hooray
Only Alice Cooper could pull off releasing a song that had been previously recorded by easy listening crooner Judy Collins. This song opened the Billion Dollar Babies album and I also love hearing this one. What a suiting opener for an Alice Cooper album. I always enjoy this one.
Rob Zombie â The Girl Who Loved The Monsters
I really canât stand Rob Zombie. I think I may have liked White Zombie for one hot minute but man, I really canât stand to hear this douchebag growling about monsters and dead girls and dragulas and whatever the fuck it is heâs screaming about. I just donât get what metal people like about this guy. This is nothing but techno music and I fucking hate techno music. This guy just flat out sucks.
Lita Ford â Gotta Let Go
HAHA. At first I thought this was Def Leppard. I dig me some Lita Ford but this song is just stupid. This is from her debut album if I remember correctly and it really isnât one of her best. She really got cooking on her album âLitaâ and while the song âDancing on the Edgeâ was kick ass, this song is just dumb. Haha. Def Leppard. Haha. I kill me.
AC/DC â Thereâs Gonna Be Some Rockinâ
Very few things make me as happy as hearing classic Bon Scott era AC/DC. The older I get, the more I learned to realize the sheer greatness of Bon Scott. Bon had the attitude and really backed up what he sang. There was always this vibe from him that he could either put his arm around you and be your buddy or he could bust a Jack Danielsâ bottle over your fucking face. Bon was epic and while there wasnât much left behind, what he did leave behind was a fucking untouchable legacy of nasty, down and dirty rock nâ roll.
Poison â Every Rose Has Itâs Thorn (Live)
HAHA. CC Devile starting things off with a guitar solo. It sounds like someone laid a guitar on the floor and then walked back and forth on top of it. Iâll be honest. Iâm a Poison fan and Iâm not ashamed to say that but we donât really need to hear âliveâ versions of these songs. Theyâre fun to âseeâ live but listening to them live is like listening to an âalmostâ as good version of the album versions. This song just seemed to go on way too long so I went and took a leak and got a Diet Coke. Iâm back now and itâs still going.
L.A. Guns â Living After Midnight
Leave it to L.A. Guns to take one of my favorite songs and totally shit all over it, wrap it up in a tortilla, and try and serve me a big ass Crap Burrito. This is so fucking horrible. I wish someone would just book these guys a flight on Lynyrd Skynyrd Airlines and be done with it. These guys were never good and never will be.
Hellyeah â Rotten To The Core
Hell no. Please be gone soon.
Anthrax â Iâm The Man
Oh brother. Here we go. I fucking HATE this. I hated it back in the day and I hate it still. Anthrax really made some stupid decisions and this is without a doubt one of them.
Pride & Glory â Machine Gun Man
Now THIS is how I like to hear Zakk Wylde. I was such a huge fan of his âBook of Shadowsâ album and the Pride & Glory album was a great album also. As much as I hate his wanky soloing, I love hearing him sing like this. I would take this over that Black Crapple Society shit any day. This stuff is so melodic and fun to listen to. This song just kicks all kinds of ass.
Guns Nâ Roses â You Could Be Mine (Live)
This is a really cool song. I wouldnât call myself a Guns Nâ Roses fan but I always thought this song was pretty kick ass and this live version is awesome. I wonder if itâs LIVE or if itâs âliveâ. Who knows and who cares? This was a cool version of this song and I was totally groovinâ out to this one. Great song.
Lizzy Borden â Kiss of Death (Live)
Damn I forget just how much I love this early Lizzy Borden stuff. Yeah, they werenât the most original band but they had some killer cheese metal tuneage. This totally makes me want to go bust out âThe Murderous Metal Roadshowâ and give it a spin. This is a great way to cap off this Hour of Metal.
