After hearing Swedish psych/roots rockers Children of the Sun’s 2019 debut Flowers, I was made a fan for life. What started out as a kind of flower power rock band has grown by leaps and bounds into a matured psychedelic rock band with serious, heartfelt messages to share. Children the Sun has released their new single “Gaslighting” from their forthcoming album Roots which will be released on March 18, 2022.
This is what the band had to say about the song “Gaslighting”.
Have you ever been manipulated to a certain point where you find yourself questioning yourself and your senses and experiences? Gaslighting is a form of mental abuse that can cause someone to totally lose themselves and their path in life. With this song we want you to know that you are your own person and that no-one can tell you what to do.
If you find yourself in a situation that you would like to end, we want you to believe in yourself. You’re the moonlight through the storm.
“You got those cold eyes telling, me that I can not run If I am lucky you will take me to the sun I am the ocean, you can not tell me where to go I am my own and I’m the moonlight through the storm”
“Gaslighting” is an intense display of hard, roots based rock n’ roll reminiscent of American rockers Rival Sons. “Gaslighting” is a guitar driven rocker showcasing not just the emotional and artistic tightness of the band but the soulful and electrifying vocals of Josefina Ekholm. “Gaslighting” has Children of the Sun sounding at the top of their game and has me super pumped for lies ahead with the release of Roots.
Roots will be released on March 18, 2022 on The Sign Records but for now, you can check out “Gaslighting” here.
