Swedish psychedelic/roots rockers Children of the Sun have released a new single. The song is an acoustic rendition of “In Silva” which will be on their sophomore album, Roots, which will be released on March 18th. The single features guest vocalist Simon Zion of the band Awaze delivering a powerful duet with COTS vocalist Josefina Ekholm. Ekholm had this to say about the song:
”In Silva’ is about longing for something or someone. Waiting for something to happen, and believing that everything will work out in the end. It is about accepting what you can’t control; that everything will turn out okay as long as you just let it happen.”
Guitarist/Songwriter Jacob Hellenrud stated that Simon Zion’s performance “tries to capture the feeling of sitting on a stump out in the forest and jamming loose with the trees as an audience.”
The song is absolutely fantastic and it shows a significant level of growth in both the performance and the songwriting since the release of their 2019 debut, Flowers. At this rate, Children of the Sun continue to blow me away and is a band that I feel will have a long, thriving future as they continue to deliver honest, heartfelt music that is meant to be felt as much as heard.
