War Babies, the classic heavy metal/hard rock/grunge band of the late `80s and early `90s, is releasing its first album in over 30 years, in collaboration with NW Metalworx Music. They are digging deep in the band’s vaults to bring you some never-before heard recordings and live material from 1989 – 1993 (including some music that was intended for a second album).
War Babies hit the Seattle music scene in 1988, a few years before Seattle Music became a household thing. Delivering music of a more hard rock/metal edge than most of their peers, War Babies were an amazing band that sadly got lost in the shuffle when the “Seattle Scene” suddenly blew up in the early ’90s. War Babies, fronted by former TKO vocalist Brad Sinsel, also featured Tommy “Gunn” McMullin (guitars), Guy Lacey (guitars), Shawn Trotter (bass), and Richard Stuverud (drums). Together they performed all over Seattle sharing bills with such bands as Mother Love Bone, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden just to name a few. Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament was also the War Babies bassist for a short stint.
In ’92, War Babies released their stellar self-titled and only album and hit the road with a couple of notable tours with Ugly Kid Joe and sleaze rockers The Four Horsemen. The later even broke up mid tour leaving War Babies to play the shows on their own eventually packing up and heading back to Seattle. The band eventually parted ways with each of it’s members going on to pursue other projects and interests. In 2023, former War Babies drummer Richard Stuverud sat in on drums for long-time Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron after he tested positive for Covid-19.
Stay tune for more information regarding a release date for this much anticipated release from a band that should’ve been huge, in my opinion.
