As you all know by now, the “Big Four” (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax) have been touring over seas in what is being called the greatest Metal tour of all time. For the first time, The “Big Four” of Metal are touring together overseas melting faces and ripping heads off left and right. I have seen footage from this tour on YouTube and it’s no lie that the bands are all sounding and looking spectacular. While this is a great thing to hear about it, the big question now is when will this tour come Stateside? Will it come Stateside? I can guarantee that every scumbag promoter in the US is frothing at the mouth over this and wants a slice of this pie. Regardless, if this tour comes here to the States, you can bet your ass that you are going to pay out the nose for this experience. This is the kind of tour that we would’ve killed to see as kids. Hell, we were 3/4 of the way there with Clash of the Titans in the 90’s but it’s ok since Metallica had pretty much cashed in their balls at that point.
This is one of those type of shows that I know I’m gonna bitch and moan about the ticket prices but I will honestly say that I would pay 100 bucks to see this. Even if it does put me 10 rows from the ceiling of the arena. This tour has so much potential to be an amazing experience but at the same time, it could completely self destruct. Can you imagine the egos of Mustaine, Ulrich, Ian and King all in one room? Just those four fuckers alone would kill each other but ya know what? It’s those four people that have worked their asses off from the very beginning to make sure that their own respective bands were one of the best around.
Looking at the set lists from all the bands is really fun to see just how they are using their time. Anthrax seems to be delivering a fun but safe set. Megadeth is killing it yet again with a performance of “Rust In Peace” which was a bold yet totally awesome move on their part. Slayer is just coming out firing on all cylinders and Metallica’s set looks pretty damn impressive minus that craptastic “Nothing Else Matters.” Really? Is there any fucking need for them to play that song? Makes me nauseous just thinking about it but for the most part, Metallica’s set looks pretty damn solid.
