This Day In Metal History

26 years ago today, Iron Maiden kicked off the American leg for their now legendary World Slavery Tour in Seattle, Washington.  This was the tour that really broke Iron Maiden into the US touring market and solidified their spot as one of the greatest and biggest Heavy Metal bands in the world.  The tour boasted the largest production on a traveling music tour up to that point and a set list that many to this day would consider to be one of their finest.

The “World Slavery Tour” had the band doing a sold out 7 night run at New York’s Radio City Music Hall and sold out 4 night run at Long Beach Arena which ended up being captured for the bands “Live After Death” album and video.  The tour came to an end on July 5, 1985 in Laguna Hills, California at Irvine Meadows. “The World Slavery Tour” would change the ways that hard rock/metal bands approached touring and inspired a long line of bands to actually put on elaborate productions giving their fans their money’s worth.
